FLAME BOSS 100

        I have experienced countless sleepless nights during overnight cooks. I have made many phone calls to my wife during daytime cooks when I am away. Even as skilled and as confident as I am with kamado-style cookers, there is always a sense of doubt. Am I maintaining temperature? Is my temp slowly creeping up? Is my fire out? Answer this doubt with the Flame Boss.

        The Flame Boss 100 is a pit temperature controller for kamado-style cookers. Basically, it's a computer for your kamado. Using a powered head unit and a blower fan attached to the air intake, the Flame Boss takes the guess out of maintaining the perfect temperature.

         The Flame Boss user interface is simplicity at it's finest. The bright LCD screen details all of the pertinent information at all times and can be adjusted for contrast. Cycling through the menu you will find a timer, start/stop timer, a meat temp alarm and C/F toggle. Once powered, simply use the up and down arrows to set the pit temperature and the Flame Boss does the rest.

Additional features of the Flame Boss include:

Open Lid   Detects the sudden temperature drop from opening the lid and turns the fan off temporarily to avoid over-stoking the fire
Power Glitch Safe    Continues running at the saved Set temperature when power returns
Ramp Down   Keeps your food warm after it is cooked

         The Flame Boss is designed to control ALL sizes of kamado-style cookers. The package included 2 different sized adapter plates.

wheel 1/4" open. 

The alligator clip probe should 
be clipped to the grill grate. This 
will monitor the pit temperature.

         I tested the Flame Boss on the Mini Max, Medium and X-Large sized Big Green Eggs. A full slab of spare ribs on the Mini Max, turkey legs and pulled pork on the Medium Egg & brisket with burnt ends on the XL. The pork and brisket were both overnight cooks. Trying anything new always makes me nervous. I woke up several times during the night to check on the cooks. Each time I checked, the Flame Boss was working it's magic. The pit temperature was always right where I set it. The end results of the food as par as normal, but with a LOT less effort. 


         I tested the accuracy of the Flame Boss food probe against the Thermoworks Thermapen, which I swear by. During each test, the accuracy of the Flame Boss food probe was within a single degree of the Thermapen. That is definitely a range I can live with. 


         This product makes a low and slow cook SO much easier. I feel like I'm almost cheating!  ;)   
The Flame boss will definitely be working hard at my house. I'm planning to use it on the Thanksgiving turkey!       

This product is well designed with quality parts. It's easy to use. It keeps accurate control of your cooking  temperature.
